How to Calculate Your Electric Bill

After collecting the data like units etc, you can calculate the PGVCL bill

  1. Multiply the device’s wattage by the number of hours the appliance is used per day.
  2. Divide by 1000.
  3. Multiply by your kWh rate.

STEP1: Imagine if you have a 120-watt television in your home and you watch it 4 hours per day, it consumes 480 watt-hours per day (120 x 4 = 480). Divide 480 by 1000 to convert 480 watt-hours into .48 kWh (480 ÷ 1000 = .48).

STEP2: If your electricity rate is 10cents per kWh, that means it costs 4.8 cents per day to use your television (.48 x .10= 4.8).

STEP3: This should account for about $144 of your monthly electric bill (4.8 x 30 = 144).


PGVCL reminds the customers prior to their disconnection of the power supply i.e. SMS from PGVCL –Pay your electricity bill within a stipulated time to avoid disconnection of your power supply.

The customer can lodge a complaint if they receive the above message

STEP1: Primarily visit the website and then enter the customer Number which is prescribed

STEP2: Then send an SMS to customer care number 19122 or 1800 233 155333

STEP3: You will get a complaint list type and type code.

STEP4: After the successful completion of your complaint, you will receive a complaint number on your mobile.
